PINK POWER #16 - 2019

On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of GAYSHA Berlin e.V., the gay-lesbian karate club in Berlin hosted PINK POWER 2019. On offer were workshops in Karate-Do (Wado Ryu, Shito Ryu, Shotokan), Hapkido, Quan Dao Kung Fu, Thai Boxing, Boxing, Nei Yang Gong.

PINK POWER #15 - 2018

PINK POWER took place on 10th August 2018 in Paris at the GAY GAMES 10 in Paris from 4.-12.8.2018. Workshops has been offered in various Martial Arts like Karate-Do and Aikido, judo and boxing. In addition, the organizing club Niji-Kan Paris celebrated the 25th anniversary, which was celebrated on a Barteau Mouche in the night illuminated Paris. It was just wonderful.

PINK POWER #14 - 2017

On 14./15. October 2017 PINK POWER took place for the 14th time. This time, our London-based Jujitsu club ISHIGAKI London organized the meeting in London, which also served to prepare for GAY GAMES in Paris next year. There were workshops with jujitsu, karate-do and boxing.

PINK POWER #13 - 2016

Because of the 20th anniversary of Munich's gay and lesbian karate club BUSHIDO Munich e.V., PINK POWER took place from 16.-18. September 2106 in Munich. Various martial arts were offered: Karate-Do, Aikido, Vovinam Viet Vo Dao, Jujitsu, Tai Chi and Kickboxing.

PINK POWER #12 - 2015

PINK POWER Cologne 2015

To mark the 15 th anniversary of Horangi Taekwondo in Cologne took place in cooperation with the SISSI boxers the 12th PINK POWER of 12-14th June 2015 again in Cologne. Workshops with very different martial arts were on offer: Boxing, Kickboxing, Karate, Judo, Taekwondo, Thai Boxing, Kung Fu, Tai Chi, Krav Maga and Jiu Jitsu.

PINK POWER #11 - 2014

Celebrating the 25th anniversary of GAYSHA Berlin, 11th PINK POWER took place for the first time ever in Berlin (4.-6. July 2014).

As usual there was a diverse offer for workshops in different Martial Arts and Styles:

  • Jujitsu
  • Kick Boxing
  • Karate-Do (Wado-Ryu, Shotokan, Shito-Ryu)
  • Ninjutsu
  • Tai Chi
  • Quan-Dao Kung Fu

PINK POWER #10 - 2013

Celebrating the 20th anniversary of NIJI KAN, the 10th PINK POWER took place in Paris (17.-19. May 2013) during the 10th 'Tournoi International de Paris' (TIP). Several Karate-, Taekwondo-, Krav Maga-, Judo-, Jujitsu and Boxing-workshops were offered.

PINK POWER #9 - 2012

ISHIGAKI hosted Pink Power in London (28.-30. September 2012). A weekend full of workshops and performances in Jujitsu, Karate und Judo - and a lot of encounters.

PINK POWER #8 - 2011

After the successful VIII. GAY GAMES in Cologne, PINK POWER had its eighth occurrence. Celebrating their 15th anniversary, BUSHIDO Munich welcomes PINK POWER once again to Munich on 16th – 18th September 2011.

Because of the wonderful connections which had been made at the GAY GAMES in Cologne, the range of range of martial arts and styles have been increased. Numerous workshops and demonstrations made PINK POWER 2011 an unforgettable experience.

PINK POWER #7 - 2008

In preparation for the upcoming VIII. GAY GAMES in Cologne, PINK POWER was held for the first time, also in Cologne between 19th – 21st October 2008 by Cologne’s gay and lesbian Taekwondo association, HORANGI Cologne.

PINK POWER #6 - 2007

PINK POWER returned to Paris for two days in 2007, in connection with the Tournoi International de Paris, which had been held in Paris for the fourth time (23rd – 28th May), directed and organized by NIJI KAN Paris. A Kata/Form competition was held on one of the two PINK POWER days.

PINK POWER #5 - 2006

To mark the 10th anniversary of BUSHIDO Munich, PINK POWER took place on 15th – 17th October 2006 in Munich.

It was planned to coincide with the world famous Oktoberfest so that the participants of PINK POWER had the opportunity to experience “Bräurösl Sunday” – one of the largest gay, lesbian community events of the year.

PINK POWER #4 - 2005

After the successful EURO GAMES 2004 in Munich, PINK POWER made its London debut on 30th – 31st July 2005, organized and hosted by the gay, lesbian Jujitsu club ISHIGAKI London.

In preparation for the VII GAY GAMES in Chicago, PINK POWER was introduced as a martial arts competition.

PINK POWER #3 - 2003

Participation in the VI. GAY GAMES martial arts competitions in Sydney in 2002 led to an expansion of the original concept of PINK POWER.

The first two PINK POWER weekends were purely karate-oriented events. However the third PINK POWER, hosted once more in Munich on 25th – 27th July 2003 would be a mixed martial arts event with different arts and styles.

Workshops in Aikido, Kenpo, Shaolin Kung Fu, Jujitsu and three styles of Karate-Do (Shito-Ryu, Shotokan, Wado-Ryu) featured. A workshop of IAGLMA for judges and competitors were also offered in preparation for the EURO GAMES in Munich the following year. 

PINK POWER #2 - 2001

From the beginning, the idea of PINK POWER was not an event to be solely hosted in Munich but alternately held in various European cities.

Two years later the second PINK POWER took place on 14th/15th April 2001 in Paris, organized and hosted by gay, lesbian club, KARABOOM Karate Club (today: NIJI KAN Paris). 

PINK POWER #1 - 1999

PINK POWER finally took place for the first time in Munich from 16th – 18th July 1999 with a series of workshops with different instructors and styles.

BUSHIDO’s debut event was a great success with 60 karatekas from all over Europe, enthusiastically taking part.

PINK POWER - The Beginning

For the first time in 1998, a team from Munich’s gay and lesbian karate club, BUSHIDO Karate Club Munich took part in the V. GAY GAMES karate competitions in Amsterdam.

Inspired by the moving impressions and experiences, the team returned to Munich, determined to host themselves an international gay, lesbian karate event the following year, to maintain the newly-built connections.
